GOING THROUGH CHANNELS C 2M 2F

Eliot and Katie are summoned home by his estranged father, Joe. They find Eliot’s mother dead – and the ghost of Joe’s flapper girlfriend, Lily, in residence. Eliot tries to use his as yet unsuccessful channelling business to get rid of her. Instead, Lily takes up residence in Katie’s body. This play has not been produced. A film version is also available.

Terry, 28, is an accountant who lives with her feisty grandmother, Nora. Nora is terrified that if Terry marries, she will be sent to a retirement home. So she undermines all of Terry’s potential romances. At the moment she’s trying to dissuade Terry from marrying Ira, a muscle-builder and health food nut. Terry doesn’t really love Ira, but her biological clock is ticking and there’s nothing better in sight.

Searching for a way to keep Nora active, Terry brings her a lap top computer and hooks her up to the Internet. Benny a romantic old coot, woos women from a computer in a café, where Don, a waiter and resting actor, alternately teases and helps him. Nora and Benny find each other, lie about their names (he’s Romeo, she’s Juliet) ages, looks, interests etc, and become cyber-buddies. When Benny says he wouldn’t object to a grandmother living with him and his wife is he married,. Nora decides he’s the man for Terry.

She suggests a meeting and schemes to send Terry in her place. Benny sends Don just to look Terry over. Reluctantly, Terry and Don meet – and their "like at first sight" i9s hampered by Ira’s jealousy. A second meeting brings all five together for a chaotic encounter, which ends with Nora and Benny deciding they like each other as they are, Terry and Don in love and Ira out of the running.

HAPPILY….EVER AFTER DC 2M 2F

A man who deserted his wife five years earlier, returns for her funeral. They had married for convenience: her was a refugee from the nazis who wanted to stay in America; she was a wall-flower who wanted to get married. She steps out of her coffin so that they can settle their differences before she’s buried. The husband and wife are shown in memory scenes, how they were at many stages in their lives, but all of the memories are played by the same two older actors, with simple changes of costume and much imagination supplied by the audience. The younger actor and actress play all the other people in their lives.

It was produced by Theatre 40 in 1991. A film version of the play is also available.

WHAT ARE MOTHERS FOR? CD 2F

A 38 year old woman and her 59 year old mother are on vacation together. With nowhere else to go they are trapped into a day at the beach where they finally reach into each-other’s true feelings and accept each other as equals. This play was produced at Actors Alley theatre in North Hollywood, California, and at the Lyric Theatre in Boston. It has been optioned by a producer in France and translated in French for productions in French speaking countries.
